Marlene A. Mitchell

Marlene A. Mitchell, 89, of Bellefontaine, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024, in Logan Acres Care Center, Bellefontaine.

She was born in Piqua, Ohio on March 24, 1935, the daughter of the late Glen and Grace (Wells) Bolden. She was also preceded in death by a son, Clinton John Mitchell, Jr., a grandson, and nine siblings.

On July 14, 1957, she married Clinton John Mitchell, Sr. and he survives along with their children, Telisa Hughes and Mark (Lisa) Mitchell, all of Bellefontaine, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a brother, Robert Bolden of Covington, OH and many nieces and nephews.

Marlene was a 1954 graduate of Piqua High School, where she was in the marching band as well as concert band. She worked as a homemaker, raising her family into their high school years and then went to work for TRC, East Liberty, as a test driver, where she spent 18 years. She loved serving the Lord and spent many years as the choir director at Auburn Avenue Baptist Church, Bellefontaine, where she also played piano. She also founded a community mass choir, "God's Children", which produced and recorded gospel music and Easter plays, throughout the state. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed crafts and attending craft shows.

Rev. JD Grigsby Jr. will officiate a funeral service on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at Christ Our King Church, 1325 Co Rd 9, Bellefontaine, OH 43311. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
