Marlin “Jack” Daines, 74, of West Liberty, Ohio, passed away Monday, July 27, 2009, at The Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born June 30, 1935, in Loganville, Ohio, to the late Ruben L. and Mae C. (Shook) Daines. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Julia Ann (Johnson) Daines, January 18, 2000; two brothers, Lewis Martin and Frank Daines; and 2 sisters, Merle Smith and Pearl Sines.

Surviving is his second wife, Gloria Louise (Strawser) Daines, whom he married on December 1, 2001; two sons, Guy (Anita) Daines and Doug (Cathy) Hoffman both of West Liberty; three daughters, Kem Daines of Marion, Ohio, Ruth (Dave) Kennedy of West Liberty, and Jeannie (Randy) Stidham Daines of Hamel, Illinois; a stepson, Don (Cindy) Cokain of Rushsylvania, Ohio; four stepdaughters, Melanie Cokain of Bellefontaine, Ohio, Deb (Steve) Vermillion of Bellefontaine, Marilyn Roberts of Rushsylvania, Ohio, Denise (Danny) McAdams of Mooresville, Indiana; a sister, Dolly Harshbarger of Bellefontaine; twelve grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his faithful dog, “Casper”.

Jack retired from International Harvester after 34 years of service as an electrician. He was a United States Navy veteran, serving in the Korean War, was a member of the Rushsylvania First United Presbyterian Church and a member of the Antique Power Association of Logan County. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed wood working, hunting, resorting old tractors and farming.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 31, 2009, at the Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home in West Liberty, with Rev. Russell Williams and Pastor Evan Wall officiating. Calling hours will be at the funeral home from 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. and 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Thursday, July 30, 2009. Burial will be in the Zanesfield Cemetery following the funeral service with Military Honors by the Logan County Honor Guard.
