Martha Grimes

Martha L. Grimes, age 82, of West Liberty, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the Green Hills Care Center in West Liberty. She was born February 20, 1928 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Harvey and Ina (Clements) Carpenter.

On August 22, 1948, she married Mark Eugene Grimes in West Liberty, and he preceded her in death December 14, 1928.

She is survived by a son Harvey (Carolyn) Grimes of East Liberty, Ohio; two daughters Caron Vernon of Bexley, Ohio, and Annette (Frank) Morman of Harrod, Ohio; one brother Oliver H. Carpenter of Cable, Ohio, and six grand daughters: Teresa (Jeff) Robson, Julianna (Neil) Niemi, Alonna (Bill) Watkins, Martha (Dan) Petty, Alaina Morman and Erin Morman; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother Eugene Carpenter and a sister Loveria Osman.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was a member of the West Liberty United Church of Christ, the Crusaders Class, Missionary Aid Society, and the Monday Afternoon Club.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at the Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home in West Liberty with Rev. Thomas Marlin officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service in the Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty. Calling hours are Friday evening from 4 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
