Martha June Hostetler

Martha “June” Hostetler, 87, died at 1:30pm on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Green Hills Care Center, West Liberty, Ohio.

She was born June 30, 1935, near West Liberty, Ohio, the daughter of the late Ira D. and Mary (Hartzler) Hostetler.

A 1953 graduate of Salem Local High School, Kingscreek, Ohio, June was a member of the Oak Grove Mennonite Church where she was involved in children’s and youth ministries, music, and committees for many years.

June was a piano teacher from 1953 to 1977 when she became employed at Adriel School in the Development Department.  She retired in 2000.  She then worked part-time at Adriel School until 2009 when she became a receptionist at Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine, working every other weekend for several years.

June enjoyed family gatherings, often hosting friends and family.  She was a sports fan of Ohio State University, especially football and basketball, the Cincinnati Reds, and eating out.

In March of 2015 she and her sister, Joyce, moved from West Liberty to Green Hills Community.

June is survived by 22 nieces and nephews, many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were siblings and spouses, Berdena (Lloyd) Kanagy, Thelma (Joe) Garber, J. Wendell (Esther) Hostetler, Dwight (Shirley) Hostetler, Donald (Annabelle) Hostetler, and Joyce Hostetler; niece Alice Garber Matto; and nephews Timothy S. “Timmy” Hostetler and Evan Garber; and several grand nephews and nieces.

Family and friends may call on Monday, November 14, 2022, from 11am – 1pm at the Oak Grove Mennonite Church, 1525 Mennonite Church Road, West Liberty, where Pastors Alex Dye and Andy Stoner will officiate a funeral service at 1pm following the visitation.  Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, West Liberty, Ohio.
