Martha Leiss

Biography

Martha E. Leiss, 93, of Jackson Center, Ohio, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013 at Logan Acres Care Center in Bellefontaine, Ohio.

She was born June 24, 1919 in Shelby County Ohio, to the late Wilbur and Dora (Mumaw) Magoto. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Leiss September 25, 2001; a son, Ronald Leiss; a son-in-law, Roger Myers; two brothers; five sisters and two grandsons.

She is survived by her children, Donald (Margee) Leiss of Bellefontaine, Joe (Ann) Leiss of Junction City, Kansas, Mary Ellen Myers of Jackson Center, Pat (Jerry) Stewart of Sidney, Ohio, Shirley (Dennis) Brown and Linda (Paul) Mann both of Jackson Center; three sisters-in-law, Hope Magoto of Urbana, Ohio, Joan Kinniger of Maplewood, Ohio and Mary Bell of DeGraff, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren; six step grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; eighteen step great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren with one due in April; six step great-great grandchildren; a close friend, Cleda Dysert of Alger, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.

A homemaker and farmers wife, Martha loved her family and home. She helped with the family farm including driving tractors and loved working and maintaining her yard and flowers.

Pastor Shannon Vogelezang will officiate a 12:00 noon funeral service Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Eichholtz Daring and Sanford Funeral Home in Jackson Center, where calling hours are from 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, January 22, 2013 and one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday. Interment will be at the Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson, Ohio.
