Mary Edgington, 81, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, went to be with her Lord Friday morning September 7, 2012 at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine surrounded by her loving family who held vigil during her last days.

Mary was born near Uniopolis, Ohio in Auglaize County November 22, 1930, to the late Virgil W. and Violet V. Rinehart Rash. She married James W. Edgington November 28, 1948 at the Zanesfield Methodist Church, and he preceded her in death August 11, 1997. She was also preceded in death by siblings Chrystal Barnes, Robert “Bud” Rash, Carolyn Sue Rash and Jean Lee.

Mary is survived by her children: Vicki (Walter) Lamb of Bellefontaine, Vivian (Brian) Langan of Bellefontaine, Terry (Pat) Edgington of Plain City, Ohio and Mary (Tony) Ungruhe of Pulaski, Tennesee, ten grandchildren: Michelle Lamb, Todd (Karen) Lamb, Dennis (Lauren) Lamb, Lori (Hal) Ackley, Jennifer (Aaron) Reames, Sarah (Brandon) Knauss, Mandy (Jeff) Good, Clint (Jenny) Edgington, Josh (Amanda) Schafer and Matthew Ungruhe and 16 great-grandchildren with 3 more on the way. Her surviving siblings include Jane (Manley) Mitten of Chillicothe, Ohio, James A. Rash of Zanesfield, Ohio and Irene Rash of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was a loving wife and mother, her greatest joy was her children and grand-children. She was a homemaker and an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed stained glass, crocheting baby blankets, playing cards and bingo. Mary loved the lake and enjoyed camping, fishing and water skied until she was 68 years old. She was a caring and giving person and a member of the West Liberty United Methodist Church. Mary’s motto was, “Life is better with chocolate.”

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine assisted the family with arrangements.
