Mary Elizabeth Evilsizor 95, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Logan Acres, Bellefontaine.
Mary was born on March 29, 1921 in West Liberty, Ohio (Logan County) to the late Edward and Nellie (Lapp) Shumaker and was the youngest of four. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Paul C. Evilsizor who passed away in February 11, 1991, her 2nd husband, Lewis Evilsizor who passed away in Feb. 2005, her brother, William Shumaker, her two sisters, Juanita Shumaker Howard and Ruth Shumaker Miller, and a beloved granddaughter, Dee Anna Kinney Batton.
She graduated from Springfield High School in 1939 and completed the Springfield City Hospital’s nursing program earning her RN degree. She completed an Art School course via mail, and graduated from Ohio Northern University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
Mary was the Bellefontaine Schools District school nurse from 1960 through 1968. She was employed as a fifth grade teacher and Principal for Middleburg Elementary and taught at East Liberty Elementary and concluded her teaching career at West Mansfield Elementary. She retired from teaching but remained active with her love of crafts. She joined the Country Crafters, participating in an annual show. She was active in the Bellefontaine United Methodist Church where she taught and served as the Supervisor of the primary Sunday School, was a member of the Aimwell Class serving as an officer and at times as the teacher and remained active in Kings Daughter’s Fidelis Circle where she served on several committees and also as an officer from 1953-2009. She often shared with others her trip to the Holy Land in 1991. She enjoyed art activities such as painting classes, quilling and Christmas ornaments. She loved flowers and adored her family.
Survivors include her daughters, Scarlett (John) Kinney and Nance (Gayle) Bradds; grandsons, Troy (Christy) Kinney, Griffen (Dara) Bradds and Nathan (Sommer) Bradds and six great-grandchildren, Miranda Batton, Kyra Batton, Addison Bradds, Wyatt Magnon, Bella Bradds and Max Bradds and her last remaining cousin, Arlene Bechtel.
Pastor Ed Beale will officiate a funeral service on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Bellefontaine. Friends may call on Friday, May 20, 2016 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 North Main Street, Bellefontaine, Ohio. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty, Ohio.
