Mary Hickman

Mary Marguerite Hickman, 89 of West Liberty, Ohio, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the Sterling House in Springfield, Ohio.

She was born July 23, 1924, in Cable, Ohio a daughter of the late Orville and Martha “Marie” Brake Yeazell. On January 25, 1947, in Urbana, Ohio she married Herman Hickman and he preceded her in death June 4, 2009. She was also preceded in death by a son, Mike Hickman, sisters, Alice Wingfield and Florence Russell and a brother, Melvin Yeazell.

Survivors include a daughter, Martha (Rick) Haerr of Springfield; son, James D. (Thresa) Hickman of West Liberty; a daughter-in-law, Sherry Hickman of West Mansfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Scott (Brenda) Funderburg, Staci (Andy) Poland, Kelsey (Brian) Deal, Brandy (Tech Sgt. Brad) Powell and Christy (Nate) Cook; eight great-grandchildren; special nieces, Elaine and Marcia and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Mary was a homemaker and also worked at Maries Candies in West Liberty. A member of the West Liberty United Church of Christ, she enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, quilting, crocheting and most of all being with her family.

Pastors Paul E. Forrey and Rosie Michael will conduct an 11 A.M. funeral service Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in West Liberty. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in West Liberty.
