Mary K. Regier, 83, of West Liberty, Ohio, passed away Wednesday morning, May 16, 2012 at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
She was born in Bellefontaine August 21, 1928, to the late Freeman and Nellie (Detweiler) Fisher. She was also preceded in death by a brother Dale Fisher.
On November 28, 1952, in West Liberty, Ohio she married Arnold J. Regier, and he survives along with their children: Beth (Ben) Selzer of Hesston, Kansas, Bonnie (Steve Weatherburn) Grace of Las Vegas, New Mexico, and Alan (Kari) Regier of Urbana, Ohio; a foster-son, Frank Chatfield of Bellefontaine; 6 grandchildren; brothers, Lloyd (Evelyn) Fisher of Phoenix, Arizona, Joe (Faye) Fisher of West Liberty and Carl (Norma) Fisher of Boswell, Pennsylvania and a sister, Ruby (Roy) Byler of West Liberty.
Mary K. was an elementary school teacher and also ran a private kindergarten program in her home. She also taught several years in the Amish schools. Mary K. retired as a library aide for the Logan County Library District.
She was a member of South Union Mennonite Church and volunteered several years with the Mennonite Volunteer Services. Mary K. enjoyed the Logan County Senior Citizens group and was active at Green Hills, including being the leader of the “Kitchen Band.”
Pastor Jeff Bartlett will conduct the funeral service Saturday, May 19, 2012, at 11 A.M. at the South Union Mennonite Church in West Liberty. Calling hours are Friday, May 18, 2012 at the Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home in West Liberty from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. Private interment will be in the South Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee.
