Mary Elizabeth Wagner, 80, of Bellefontaine passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born on February 2, 1936 to the late George E. and Elizabeth D. Heizer.
On May 29, 1955 she married Glenn L. Wagner in West Mansfield. She was preceded in death by siblings, Eleanor Butler, George Heizer, Anna Schmelzer, and Dora Woods.
Mary is survived by her husband, Glenn, and three children: Glenna (Dave) Woods of Bellefontaine, Sandra (James) Tassell of Belle Center, and Gary (Kathy) Wagner of Wheaton, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Liza (Chris) Tucker, Stephanie (Christian) Montgomery, Hannah Woods; Abigail (Matt) Miller, Caitlin and Andrew Tassell; Lee, Landon and Lauren Wagner and nine great-grandchildren: Libby, Grace and John Tucker, London Woods, Ganion Montgomery, Ryan, Ella, and Luke Miller, and Mason Wagner. She is also survived by seven siblings: Phyllis (Raleigh) Oliver, Kenneth (Kay) Heizer, James (Annabelle) Heizer, Robert (Florence) Heizer, Pearle (Gaile) Heizer, Fred Heizer, and Tom (Ellen) Heizer.
Mary graduated from Byhalia-York High School in the class of 1953. She and Glenn were dairy farmers in the West Mansfield area for nearly 20 years. In the course of her life she was employed by Harding Machine Co., Bulldog, Benjamin Logan Schools, the Transportation Research Center, and Roberts Express.
Mary was a woman of great faith in God, a faithful wife, a loving mother, and showed compassion to all she met, especially children. Her interests included family, gardening, sewing, and serving others.
Pastor Jeff Willetts will officiate a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St. , Bellefontaine, where visitation is two hours prior. Burial is in Greenlawn Cemetery, West Mansfield.
The family would like to express special thanks to Judy Rogers, Diane Major and hospice for the loving care provided to Mary. We also would like to thank all those who have expressed their condolences and support during this difficult time.
