Matthew Brady

Matthew Hesson Brady, 24, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012 as a result of severe head trauma sustained in a tragic automobile accident near West Liberty, Ohio. He was born July 13, 1987, to Karen Sue Hesson Brady and Michael Lorin Brady, who survive in Bellefontaine.

He is also survived by his step-mother, Tracy Lynn Brady; his sister, Cassandra “Cassie” Brady of Bellefontaine; his brother, Isaiah Brady of Bellefontaine; Step-brothers, Stephen DeVore and Trenton DeVore of Columbus, Ohio, and a grandmother, Sue Hesson of Tiffin, Ohio. Extended family, so very important to Matthew, include maternal Aunt and Uncle Linda and Greg Grice of Bellevue, Ohio; Aunt and Uncle Theresa and Daniel Hesson of Grand Blanc, Michigan; paternal Aunt and Uncle Susan and Eric Remster of Amherst, Ohio and Aunt and Uncle Michele and Chris Jeffers of South Amherst, Ohio. Many cousins, near and dear to Matthew, include paternal cousins, Brianna (Greg), Chelsea, Mackenzie and Kiersten Remster, and Nick, Seth, Brady, and Michaela Jeffers. Maternal cousins are Jacob and Andrew Grice, Adrianna and Ashton Hesson, and Andy and Jaclyn Hesson and their children, Bailey and Chase. Matthew had volumes of memories of wonderful family times.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, David O. Hesson of Tiffin and Beverly and Roland Brady of Amherst.

Matt was a 2005 graduate of Bellefontaine High School. He excelled academically, lettered in soccer, played baseball, ran track, pole vaulted and was a member of the band. He attended Bowling Green State University from 2005 to 2010, majoring in Applied Health Science. From the fall of 2010 to the fall of 2011, Matthew lived in Denver, Colorado where he was employed at numerous jobs, including fundraising for Children International, raising money for children in need around the world. Upon his return home, he began working for LINCARE out of Marysville as a Service Representative trained to supply a variety of equipment for patients in their homes, focusing on their respiratory needs in Logan, Union, and Delaware counties. He was a dedicated employee and truly enjoyed his relationships with his patients.

Matt enjoyed adventure and lived life to the fullest. To know Matt was to love him which is attested by the many, many friends he has. Family was so important to Matt where much love was always expressed and shared. He loved his dogs, Sam and Max, who were always excited to see him. Matt’s family called him a “kid magnet” because kids would always gravitate to him. He had a smile and a laugh that would light up a room and could melt your heart. He was an avid reader, particularly enjoying history. He kept up on all current events and was always a part of fantasy football and basketball brackets. He was somewhat a “hippy” at heart enjoying the classical music of that era.

Matt was so loving and kind, and even chose to be an organ donor saving 5 other lives, bringing sight, and contributing to medical research.

Matt’s death has left a large hole in all our lives and hearts which can never be filled.

Pastor Rob Fulton will officiate an 11:00 A.M. funeral service Saturday, March 24, 2012, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Bellefontaine. Calling hours are from 2 to 8 P.M. Friday, March 23, 2012, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. Interment will be in the Bellefontaine Cemetery.
