Maxine J. Dodds, age 92, of Bellefontaine, Ohio was called to the Lord to be with her beloved husband Monday, October 9, 2017 at Green Hills Care Center in West Liberty. She was born May 12, 1925, in a farmhouse on County Road 65 in Hardin County Ohio, the second oldest child to the late Ira Trimble and Claribel Alverna (McMillen) Fleece. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles W. Fleece and a grandson, Jason McGinnis.
On August 5, 1943, she married Wilmer “Bill” Burton Dodds and Wilmer went off to the war. Together they had fifty three years of marriage. She dedicated her life to raising her six children and all their offspring.
Maxine is survived by her three sons and three daughters, Larry W. (Sue) Dodds, Victor E. (Grace) Dodds, Nancy V. (Robert) Singer, Susan L. Dodds, Christina K. McGinnis, and James I. (Gina) Dodds; fourteen grandchildren; thirty two great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; sisters, Anna Marie Coulter, and Shirley M. Moore and many nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Roundhead High School and worked at several local factories and volunteered at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine and Hardin Memorial Hospital in Kenton, Ohio for over twenty five years. It was her nature to take care of others. Maxine was very active in the rural community of Rushsylvania, Ohio. She was a member of the Harper Community Church and the Hopewell United Methodist Church. Maxine was a member of the Friendly Garden Club, the United Methodist Women, the Hospital Guild at Bellefontaine and Kenton, and the Friendly Senior Center. She also taught Sunday school at the church for many years. All who loved her will miss her.
Pastor Ed Spragen will officiate the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Harper Community Church. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will be at the Harper Cemetery.
The funeral arrangements are in care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.
