Maxine Ann Riley, age 78, of West Liberty, passed away at her residence at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 2, 2025. She was born in West Liberty, Ohio, on March 13, 1946, to the late Donald M. and Verda (Hamel) Blackwell.

She married Richard R. Riley in 1980, and he survives her.

Maxine is also survived by her cousins, Mary E. (Robert) Jackson, Sandy (Jim) Law, Carolyn (Tom) Alexander, Cindy, and Vicki Maxson; along with their children; and special friends and caretakers, Michael and Kirsten Reid.

Along with her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara K. Petty.

Maxine graduated from West Liberty High School. She served as an administrative assistant for Michael Reid at RMS Tax and will be greatly missed for her irreplaceable contributions. Maxine had a passion for antique shopping, often embarking on weekend trips to flea markets with Dick. She was an avid collector of Breyer Horses and enjoyed gardening. Maxine also found joy in baking, particularly fruit pies, and cooking chili. She was skilled in marksmanship, specifically with her .22 pistol. Following rainfalls, she would watch the river rise and practice shooting at floating debris. Maxine carried herself with elegance, always dressing impeccably when leaving the house. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the caregivers of Universal Home Health and Hospice for their exceptional care.
