Meril R. Huffman

Meril R. Huffman, age 94, of Zanesfield, Ohio passed away at 7:40 A.M. Sunday, December 24, 2017 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.

He was born in West Liberty, Ohio July 17, 1923, to the late Marston and Nellie (Fields) Huffman. In addition to his parents, Meril was preceded in death by two grandsons; a great granddaughter; two sisters and four brothers.

On September 18, 1963, Meril married the former Marilyn Hollopeter in Ridgeway, Ohio, and she survives along with five daughters, Barbara Whitaker, Patty Lewis, Linda (Russ) Shepard, Tami (Thomas Alspaugh) Huffman, and Gina (Jamie) Beeney; four sons, Bob (Sandy) Huffman, Richard (Jean) Huffman, Terry (Becky) Huffman, and Todd (Eddie) Huffman; twenty grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren; a sister, Betty McClain; a special niece, Cindy Brown; a special friend, Everett Adams and many nieces and nephews.

A United States Army Veteran, Meril served with the 735th Battalion during World War II. He worked for the railroad for twenty two years and retired from Navistar in 1985, after twenty three years of service. He was a member of the AMVETS Doyle R. Miller Post #39 and the U.A.W. Meril was honored to be selected as Grand Marshall of the 2017 Lakeview Memorial Day Parade.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in West Liberty.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 29, 2017 at the funeral home.

Burial will follow the funeral service at the North Lewisburg Cemetery in North Lewisburg, Ohio with military rites by the Logan County Veteran's Honor Guard.

The funeral arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in West Liberty.
