Merlyn Zell

Merlyn Keith Zell, 80, of Bellefontaine, Ohio and formerly of Zanesfield, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

He was born November 8, 1931 in Glen Flora, Wisconsin, to the late LaVerne Fred and Lillian May (Butterfield) Zell.

On December 20, 1974, he married Patricia Hylton in Huntsville, Ohio and she survives along with two sons, John (Annette) Zell of Lima, Ohio and William (Beth) Zell of Huntsville; six daughters, Pamela (George) Sehringer of Bay Village, Ohio, Elizabeth (Eli) Carter of Bellefontaine, Rebecca (David) Fullmer of Urbana, Ohio, Jennifer (David) McCann of Columbus, Ohio, Lillian (Shawn) Keller of West Jefferson, Ohio, and Megan Zell of Columbus; a sister, Goldene Tennant of Florida; fourteen grandchildren, Keller and Ali Sehringer; Mara, Lauren and Andrew Zell; Elisha and Ethan Carter; Mia and Bella Fullmer; Jack and Zach McCann; Brant and Grace Zell, and Dominic Keller. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Also preceding him in death were five brothers: Gordon, Glendale, Kerryn, Elden, and Lynn Zell.

Merlyn retired after working the construction trade for many years. He was a United States Air Force Veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the Zanesfield Community Chapel and served on the Ohio Hi Point JVS Advisory Board Grounds and Facilities. He was instrumental in organizing Our Daily Bread in Bellefontaine and the Caring Kitchen in Urbana. He served as president of the Logan County chapter of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International and was passionate about sharing God’s love with everyone he could.

Calling hours are Friday, October 5, 2012 from 1 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. Pastor Keith Matthews will officiate the 11:00 A.M. funeral service Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Christ Our King Church in Bellefontaine. Interment will be at the Zanesfield Cemetery in Zanesfield, Ohio with military honors by the Logan County Veteran Honor Guard.
