Michael “Mike” H. Brown, 60, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at the Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine. He was born January 15, 1949, in Muncie, Indiana, to the late Norado Hastings and Martha (Ehrhart) Brown.
On July 29, 1973, he married the love of his life Janet Yoder in Springfield, Ohio. Janet survives along with a son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Jen (Yinger) Brown of Bellefontaine, and a daughter, Julie Brown of St. Petersburg, Florida; brothers, Don (Bev) Brown of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, and Doug (Tricia) Brown of St. Paris, Ohio; a sister, Linda Engel of St. Pete Beach, Florida; his mother-in-law, Alyce Yoder of Bellefontaine; and many nieces and nephews.
Mike worked at Thomas & Marker Construction Company for thirty three years on the masonry crew and retired in 2007.
A 1967 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, he was a United States Air Force veteran serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Bellefontaine and a member of the Harold Kerr American Legion for more than 30 years. He was an excellent family man and loved sports, especially Chieftain football. He had a love for animals and supported the Logan County Humane Society.
Calling hours are Sunday, January 10, 2010, from 2 to 6 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. Pastor F. Michael Valentine will conduct the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 11, 2010, at the First Christian Church in Bellefontaine. Burial will be in the Bellefontaine Cemetery, with Military Honors by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
