Michael C. “Mike” Van Buskirk, 60, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013 at his home. He was born in Bellefontaine December 9, 1952, the son of the late Ronald N. Van Buskirk and Dorothy M. (Roach) Van Buskirk, who survives in Bellefontaine.
He is also survived by his son, Justin (Melissa) Van Buskirk of Bellefontaine; a sister, Connie Miller of Centerville, Ohio; his grandchildren, Gavin Michael and Maelee Jo and step grandson, Ethan; a niece, Jami (Pradeep) Kumar of Campbell, California and a nephew, Gregg Miller of Franklin, Ohio.
Mike was a 1971 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and then served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked for D.A.B. in Bellefontaine for thirty eight years before retiring and then passed newspapers for the Bellefontaine Examiner. He was an avid sports fan and loved to follow The Ohio State University Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Browns. Mike had a great love for all animals and creatures and was an outdoorsman as well as a novice birdwatcher.
A graveside services will be held Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 11:00 at the Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff, Ohio with Pastor Jonathon Bull officiating. Military honors performed by the Logan County Veteran's Honor Guard are also scheduled.
The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine is honored to serve the Van Buskirk family.
