Michael C. Harrod, 68, of Quincy, passed away at 5:39 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine, Ohio. He was born in Lima, Ohio on February 11, 1949 to the late Donald Raymond and Imogene (Rupert) Harrod.
On November 21, 1992 Michael married the former Gloria Setters, and she survives, along with their three children, Dawn Skeen of West Mansfield, Tammy (Glen) Higginbotham of Bellefontaine, and Michael D. (Shawna) Harrod of Spencerville; two step-children, Rachel Freistahler of Botkins and Jamie (Tim) Kittle of Celina; 14 grandchildren, Roger Skeen, Brendon Skeen, Kelsey White, Joel White, Courtney Harrod, Emily Harrod, Cameron Harrod, Isaiah Freisthaler, Alexia Morris, Kylie Beers, Tyler Priest, Ethan Priest, Angel Kittle, and Cheyenne Kittle; two great grandchildren, Landon White and McKenzie Gibson; a sister, Sharon (Jim) Morris of Tennessee, two brothers, Dennis (Sandy) Harrod of Florida, and Rick (Betty) Harrod of Mississippi; and several nieces and nephews.
A U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran, Michael was a skilled tool & die maker and electrician. He unselfishly volunteered countless hours as a firefighter with St. Johns Fire Department and as an EMT with both DeGraff and Quincy rescue squads. During his treatments, he volunteered to participate in clinical trials at The James Cancer Hospital in an effort to help other cancer patients. Michael enjoyed hunting, camping, woodworking, riding motorcycles, country music, and most especially, spending time with his children and grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes Street, DeGraff, Ohio. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Lester Cox officiating.
