Michael Petty

Michael Allen Petty, 55 of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away at 5:30 P.M. at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio Tuesday, November 27, 2012.

He was born August 30, 1957, a son of the late Harold M. Petty who preceded him in death in 1975, and his mother, the former Shirley M. (Linet) Short, who survives in Bellefontaine. He was also preceded in death by a brother Steve Petty, February 24, 2004.

On February 29, 1992 in Bellefontaine, he married the former Victoria L. Young and she survives along with children, Justin Ericksen and Thomas Ericksen both of Bellefontaine, and Stefanie Ericksen of New York, New York; a sister, Cindy (Mike) Conley of Bellefontaine; several aunts, uncles and many nieces, nephews and many close friends.

A 1975 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and a 1977 graduate of Lincoln Tech in Indianapolis, Indiana, he studied auto and diesel mechanics and received numerous awards in his field of work. He was a regional sales manager with Mann Filters and had worked previously for Wix Filters. He attended the First United Presbyterian Church in Bellefontaine, and was a member of the Bellefontaine Eagles #2166.

He was a great husband and a wonderful father and son. A HUGE Ohio State Buckeye fan, he also loved the Bellefontaine Chieftains and attended games in all sports. He loved classic cars, especially restoring his 1969 Bonneville convertible.

Pastor Rob Fulton will conduct the funeral service at 11 A.M. Saturday, December 1, 2012, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where calling hours are Friday, November 30, 2012, from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. Interment will be at the Bellefontaine Cemetery in Bellefontaine.
