Mildred Janet Birt, 96, of West Liberty, went to her eternal home on Monday, June 1, 2015.
She was born September 21, 1918 to the late Frank and Verna (Story) Perry.
On April 10, 1938 she married Arthur Birt in Newport, Kentucky and he preceded her in death on September 24, 1996. She is also preceded in death by a son, Tommy; and Bruce Haulman, Richard Huffman, and Bob Holbrook, who worked on the farms and were like sons and part of the family.
Janet is survived by a daughter, Marianne Birt of Milford Center; brother, Dick Perry and a niece, Pat Sayles, both of California; and many other nieces and nephews. Also surviving are Cindy Haulman Nance, Nancy Thorne, Gloria Elliott, and Barbara Lydey, who were all like daughters to her.
She was a beautiful seamstress and taught young girls to sew through 4-H Club. A great cook and baker she was known for her delicious pies. She volunteered at Green Hills Community and was for many years an active member of the West Liberty Methodist Church. She enjoyed family, friends, sewing, knitting, and reading.
Visitation will be Friday, June 5, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 101 Zanesfield Road, West Liberty, OH where Pastor Aaron Brown will officiate a 1 p.m. service on Friday. Burial will be in the Kingscreek Cemetery.
