Mildred A. Godwin, 89, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away Saturday morning July 27, 2013, at Heartland of Bellefontaine.
She was born in West Mansfield, Ohio August 11, 1923, to the late Cecil and Ruby G. (McGough) Wilgus.
She married Charles D. Godwin July 14, 1966 in Bellefontaine, and he preceded her in death October 10, 2002. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Williams; sisters Virginia Hall, Barb Cox and Jeanne Elliott and brothers Bill and Fred Wilgus.
Mildred is survived by a daughter, Joni (Tom) Dolan of Bellefontaine; step-daughters, Sharon Scherer of Bellefontaine and Deanna (Bill) Robinson of Rushsylvania, Ohio; grandchildren, Teanda Dolan, Anne-Jeannette Davis, Melissa Abhyankar, Jason Dolan, Steve Dolan, Delia Catterson, Brett Sanford, Russell Bingham, Brandon Bingham, Sandy Williams, Patty Williams, Joyce Williams and Nancy Williams; numerous great-grandchildren; a sister, Sherry (Bill) Fast of Sidney, Ohio; a brother Richard Wilgus of DeGraff, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mildred worked at D.A.B. for more than twenty years and then was the owner and operator of the Pony Keg in Bellefontaine for twenty plus years. She was a member of the Eagles, V.F.W. and American Legion. Mildred loved reading, crossword puzzles and watching birds – especially hummingbirds.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine from 5 to 7 P.M. A memorial service will follow at 7 P.M. with Pastor Eric Cook officiating.
Interment will be at a later date at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio.
