Biography

Monroe Hochstetler, 84, of Huntsville entered into eternal rest Thursday afternoon, February 11, 2016 at his home, from an apparent heart attack. He was born in Nappanee, Indiana on September 12, 1931 to the late Daniel and Lovina Hochstetler. Monroe was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, one grandson and two great-grandchildren.

Monroe was a member of the Belle Center Amish Church. He lived in Holy Matrimony with his wife Mary Ellen (Slabaugh) Hochstetler for 58 years, before she preceded him in death on December 19, 2009.

Monroe is survived by his second wife, Lena (Troyer Yoder) Hochstetler, whom he married on January 15, 2011, and his thirteen children: Iva Mae (Joseph) Wagler of Mayslick, KY, Glen (Polly Anna Miller) Hochstetler of Gold Creek, MT, Daniel (Fern Mast) Hochstetler of Millersburg, OH, Samuel (Susie Raber) Hochstetler of Worthington, IN, Eddie (Irene Miller) Hochstetler of Millersburg, OH, David (Miriam Troyer) Hochstetler of Belle Center, OH, Edna (Milton) Troyer of Belle Center, OH, John (Mary Miller) Hochstetler of Howe, IN, Barbara (Nathan) Lehman of Flat Rock, IL, Susan (John) Lehman of Flat Rock, IL, Joseph (Sara Mae Eicher) Hochstetler of Millersburg, OH, Rose Mary (Jonathan) Yoder of Maryville, MO and Jerry (Rhoda Miller) Hochstetler of Belle Center, OH.

Monroe is also survived by five siblings, Anna Mae Burkholder of Nappanee, IN, Esther Hochstetler of Ava, IL, Linda Slabaugh of Nappanee, IN, Gerald Hochstetler of Marion, MI and Leroy Hochstetler of Bremen, IN; stepchildren: Joseph, Levi, Orpha, Rebecca, Miriam, Paul, Daniel, David, Aaron, Rachel and Anna.

Friends may call at the Mahlon Coblentz residence, 7443 Co. Rd. 49, Belle Center, OH on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-8pm. Bishop Jerald Bontrager will officiate the funeral service on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at 9am the Mahlon Coblentz residence. Private family burial will be held in Worthington Church Cemetery, Worthington, Indiana.

The Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Bellefontaine assisted the family with arrangements.
