Namon C. Peace, age 84, of Huntsville, Ohio passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Heartland of Bellefontaine in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
He was born in Gatliff, Kentucky December 13, 1932, the son of the late Ben A. and Estell L. (Powers) Peace. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, James Peace, Richard Peace, and Cye Peace; three sisters, Virgie M. Peace, Lillian L. Sharp, and Mildred A. Heard, and a step-grandson, Ray Kilkenny.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shelby Jean “Jeannie” Gabriel of Huntsville whom he married November 18, 1997 in Logan County Ohio. He is also survived by three daughters, Karen S. Davis of Miamisburg, Ohio, Patti A. Peace of Mason, Ohio, and Shari R. Peace of Centerville, Ohio; two sons, Randall A. Peace and Michael D. Peace both of Miamisburg; one brother, Charles Peace of Kentucky; two step-sons, Charles W. Kilkenny and Michael A. Kilkenny both of Lancaster, Ohio; five grandchildren, Katie (Peace) Nelson of Miamisburg, Amy Peace of Middletown, Ohio, Douglas Davis of Miamisburg, Alexander Peace, and Ethan Peace, both of Kettering, Ohio; three step-grandchildren, Stephanie Kilkenny of Lancaster, Jennifer Kilkenny and Dean Kilkenny both of California; one great-granddaughter, Abigail; his former wife, Ruth Peace, and many nieces and nephews.
Namon was a thirty eight year proud Veteran of the United States Navy and United States Naval Reserves retiring with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4 (CWO4). He worked thirty five years in Federal Civil Service with the DESC (Defense Electronics Supply Center) in Dayton, Ohio where he was a member of the 25 Year Club. He also belonged to the Logan County Friendly Senior Center, Eagles, Moose, VFW, Am Vets and the American Legion.
He was an animal lover and enjoyed fishing and following the University of Kentucky Wildcat Basketball program. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. The family would like to give a special thank you to Heartland of Bellefontaine as well as Heartland Hospice for their care & compassion.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the the Dayton National Cemetery officiated by the Dayton National Honors Squad and Chaplain.
The staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine assisted the family with the arrangements.
