Nancy Lee Carman, 82, of Bellefontaine, passed away peacefully at 10:13 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Sidney, Ohio on November 2, 1941, a daughter to the late Harold and Eileen (Klopfenstein) Faler.
She married James Carman, and he preceded her in death on February 21, 2017. She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Donald Faler and Kenneth Faler; and two stepchildren: Margie Sue Dennison and Bruce Carman.
Nancy is survived by her children, Julie (Mark) Dixon of Bellefontaine, Stephanie (Mark) Koldan of Michigan, and stepson, David Carman of Bellefontaine; four grandchildren, Allison (Darren) Koldan Bolt, Michael Koldan, Garrett Dixon, and Lauren Dixon; five step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren including a great granddaughter anticipated on February 14, 2025; a sister, Marilyn (James) Bidwell; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Jodi Guevara; her close “Klopfenstein Cousins”; and her very good friend and traveling buddy, Vicki Rapp.
A graduate of Botkins High School, Nancy began her work career at an early age as she needed a work permit. She had worked for the phone company and at AccuSport before beginning her career in banking. Nancy had the pleasure of working with Dime Bank, Farmer’s Bank, Huntington Bank, Champaign Bank, and Richwood Bank, retiring three times. She was currently working at Mary Rutan Health Center as a greeter, go-to person, and friend to all. She remained friends with many of her former co-workers.
Nancy attended Emanuel Lutheran Church in Montra. She was active in the Lutheran Church as Sunday school teacher and Bible school with her children. She most recently attended Cornerstone Church in Huntsville. She was a former Longaberger consultant, was active in Junior Achievement, United Way Women, a cancer advocate due to the loss of both brothers, and former Mary Rutan Hospital Volunteer.
Nancy found much joy and happiness in time with her family. She especially enjoyed the time with her grandchildren attending school and sporting events. Nancy enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, her many “girl trips”, and Airstream travels with Jim. She made friends along the way, whether through work, volunteering, traveling, or life encounters. She formed lasting relationships and lived her dash to the fullest.
Nancy wanted to give a special thanks to the “A Team” and “Nancy Team” of caregivers with Universal Home Health and Hospice, including Karen, Cindy, Erin, Sydney, Cheryl, Mike, Dr. Kratz, Pastor Bryan Meadows, and Ward Cartright.
