Naomi E. “Betty” Black, 84, of DeGraff went home to be with the Lord and her family at 12:37 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Logan Acres Care Center. She was born in Logan County, Ohio on December 18, 1929 to the late Isaac W. and Jennie (Reams) Holycross.
On August 10, 1979 she married Herbert Lewis Black and he preceded her in death on October 7, 2008. She was also preceded in death by two sisters; Alice Davis and Agnes Murray; two brothers; Charles and Raymond Holycross; four brothers-in-law, Lester Wooddell, Maurice Davis, Richard Johnson and Vere Murray; a niece Laurie Clark; and a nephew Kevin Wooddell.
Betty is survived by eight siblings; Aaron (Ruth) Holycross of Bellefontaine, Don (Joan) Holycross of Bellefontaine, Tempa (Delmar) Cox of West Liberty, Carroll (Sally) Holycross of Bellefontaine, Darrell (Pat) Holycross of Bellefontaine, Shirley Johnson of Sidney, Mary Lou McCoy of Bellefontaine, and Ruth Wooddell of DeGraff; a sister-in-law Lois Holycross of Bellefontaine; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
A homemaker, Betty was a member of the DeGraff United Methodist Church. She especially loved singing hymns and praising Jesus Christ.
Pastor Kris Geise will officiate a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2014 at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes Street, DeGraff, Ohio. Visitation will be two hours prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in DeGraff.
