Nathan T. Thatcher, age 56, of Lakeview, Ohio went to be with his Lord and Savior at 4:35 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was the first death related to COVID-19 in Logan County. It was his desire to be an organ donor as he was listed on the registry but was not eligible to due to the uncertainty of the virus.

Nathan was born May 29, 1964 in Lima, Ohio. Both his parents, Darlene LaWarre and Larry Miller are deceased.

On January 1, 1984, he married Rita (Reinemeyer) Thatcher who survives in Lakeview. Also surviving are one son, Eric (Erica) Thatcher of Radford, Virginia; two daughters, Renee (Justin) Metzger of Huntsville, Ohio and Sarah Thatcher at home; five grandchildren, Hannah, Haley and Laura Metzger, Braden and Lillian Thatcher; a grandmother, Marjorie (Sandkuhl) Remines of Saint Marys, Ohio; three brothers Mike (Patti) LaWarre of Roundhead, Ohio, Joe (Anna) LaWarre of Kenton, Ohio, and Calvin LaWarre of Saint Marys; five  sisters, Christina Van Auken of Georgetown, Ohio, Angie (Ed) Werling of Harrod, Ohio, Tiffany Miller of Lima, Kelli Miller of Harrod, and Ashley (Brian) Wildermuth of Lima and many nieces and nephews.

Nathan was preceded in death by a great-grandfather, Leo Sandkuhl; his step-father, Calvin LaWarre and a brother, Jonathan LaWarre.

Nathan worked at Honda for thirty six years and attended the Huntsville United Methodist Church where he was a board member and mission leader. He was a volunteer member of the I.L.D.C.  He enjoyed supporting high school sports and was a fan of the Buckeyes and Steelers. His hobbies included boating, fishing, gardening, grilling, carpentry and was particularly fond of sunsets. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather to all his family.

Visitation for Nathan will be held Sunday, June 21, 2020 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Huntsville United Methodist Church in Huntsville.

Pastor Bryan Meadows will officiate the funeral service Monday, June 22, 2020  at 11 a.m. at the church.  Burial will follow the funeral service at the Grove Cemetery in Kenton.

The arrangements are being handled by the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in  Bellefontaine.
