Nick Johnson
Nick A. Johnson, 87, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima, Ohio.
He was born March 7, 1926 in Lima, to the late Alex N. and Anna (Kanaris) Johnson. He was also preceded in death by his twin brother, James Alex Johnson.
Nick is survived by his good friend, Dixie Alexander of New Hampshire, Ohio; a brother, John A. Johnson of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; a sister-in-law, Helen Morris of Urbana, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.
Nick owned and operated Nick’s Delicatessen in Bellefontaine for many years. A World War II Army Veteran serving in Italy, Nick was a licensed pilot and a member of the Greek Orthodox Church in Springfield, Ohio, the Ohio State Highway Patrol Auxiliary, the American Legion for sixty eight years, Elks, D.A.V. (Disabled American Veteran) and the Drum and Bugle Corp. Nick was collector of memorabilia and loved to fish in Canada and feed the birds.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, July 26, 2013 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, with visitation from 1:30 to 3:00 P.M. prior to the service. Interment will be at the Bellefontaine Cemetery in Bellefontaine with military honors by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
