Norma Jean Godwin, 84, of Belle Center passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 in Bellefontaine.
She was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on October 20, 1932, the daughter of the late Harley and Gladys (Lakin) Palmer. She is also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Stevenson and three brothers; Dan Palmer, Jim Palmer and Carroll Schultz.
On December 27, 1951, she married Carl Jay “Pappy” Godwin in Bellefontaine and he preceded her in death on May 6, 2011.
She is survived by a daughter, Diana (Marvin) Lattimer of Bellefontaine and a son Steve (Robin) Godwin, of West Liberty, four grandchildren; Lyndsey Godwin, Joshua Titus, Justin Titus, and Jeremy Titus, six great grandchildren; Willow, Kain, Bella, Max, Sophia, and Mea, one sister, Mary Lou Notestine of Georgia and numerous nieces and nephews.
Norma Jean worked for various local businesses in the area. She was member of the First Lutheran Church, Bellefontaine and enjoyed sewing and swimming. Her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her the most joy.
Her grandchildren will lead a graveside funeral service on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the shelter building in Fairview Cemetery, Belle Center.
