Opal M. Wones, 85, of Quincy, passed away at 11:18 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Mary Rutan Hospital. She was born in Swanders, Ohio on September 12, 1930 to the late Clinton and Mary (Allison) Allen. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Richard E. Foust and David L. Foust; a sister, Grace Zirkle; and three brothers, Cecil, Earl and Jerry Allen.
Opal’s first husband, Richard J. Foust, preceded her in death on March 5, 1985. She later married Roy Wones on June 15, 1990 in Sidney, Ohio, and he survives.
Opal is also survived by her two daughters, Betty J. Pitts and Sondra (David) Pitts; five grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Charles (Phyllis) Allen and Roger (Pam) Allen; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Foust; four sisters-in-law, Lucille Allen, Bobbi Allen, Millie Foust and Marie Martin; a brother-in-law, Charlie Wones; many nieces and nephews; and three special neighborhood grandchildren.
A homemaker, Opal attended the Buckeye Gospel Barn in Quincy. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch while watching the squirrels eat corn.
Visitation will be Monday, November 30, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes Street, DeGraff. Pastor Bobbi Allen will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 1st at the funeral home. Burial will be in Claibourne Cemetery in Richwood, Ohio.
