Patsy Maurer

Patsy L. Maurer, 86, of Sidney, Ohio, passed away Saturday evening, February 1, 2014 at The Pavilion in Sidney.

She was born in Botkins, Ohio to the late Urban T. and Sylvia (Zimpfer) Kennedy July 19, 1927. She married Walter Philip Maurer Jr. May 11, 1946, in Botkins and he preceded her in death May 9, 2008. Patsy was also preceded in death by brothers, Donald and Robert Kennedy; a son-in-law, John Thomas; two great-grandchildren, Jade Thomas and M.J. Thomas and a grandson-in-law, Patrick Clerkin.

Patsy is survived by her children, Steven (Amy) Maurer of Bexley, Ohio, Cheri (Joe) Davis of Montra, Ohio, Martha Thomas of Jackson Center, Ohio, Mary (Mark) Koenig of Montra, Ellen (Jerry) Sawmiller of Moulton, Ohio and Ann (Bill) Allenbaugh of Sidney; fourteen grandchildren, Jennifer Clerkin, Annelise Maurer and Sylvia Maurer, Joe “JP” Davis, Jessi (Monty) Eyink, Katie (Brad) Zwiebel, Caleb (Christen) Thomas, Zeb Thomas, Nathan (Christie) Koenig, Josh Koenig, Madeline (Nick) Frankenhauser, Mike (Amy) Sawmiller, Thomas Allenbaugh and Elizabeth Allenbaugh; ten great-grandchildren, Lana Wilkins and Raelyn “Frankie” Munyan, Evan and Jordan Eyink, Ian Zwiebel, Hailey Brewer, Dawson and Sawyer Thomas, and Nolan and Ethan Frankenhauser, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Patsy was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Montra, and had previously been a member at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Botkins and the Indian Lake Community Church in Russells Point, Ohio. She was a homemaker and a bookkeeper for the family business. Patsy was very active in her community, including the Botkins Historical Society. She was very talented musically and a gifted organist and pianist. Patsy also enjoyed writing poetry, especially for her children and grandchildren. She was also an artist, and enjoyed painting on various mediums. A very compassionate person, she loved her family and took pleasure in spending summers at the lake.

Calling hours will be held at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Jackson Center Friday, February 7, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. Pastor Shannon Vogelezang will officiate the funeral service Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Botkins at 11 A.M. where visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at a later date in the Loramie Valley Cemetery.
