Paul Everett Sharp, 75, of Farmers Branch, Texas, passed away at 3:45 P.M. Wednesday, January 18, 2012, from the effects of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

He was born in Zanesfield, Ohio November 25, 1936, to the late Paul Earl Sharp and Virginia Ellen Sharp. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Ann Baugh.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Ruth Marie Sharp, of Farmers Branch; his three children, Tamara Lee Ann (Kent) Weaver of Corinth, Texas, Candace Marie (Thomas) Mitchem of Chievres, Belgium, and Paul Earl Sharp II of Carrollton, Texas; grandchildren, Khameron Whitman Mitchem of Columbia, South Carolina, and Kharrington Marie Valbjorg Mitchem of Chievres, Belgium; his sister, Ethel Marie Benham of Seattle, Washington, and numerous nieces and nephews.

From 1955 through 1959, he served in the United States Air Force at Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany, and retired in 1998 as a maintenance electrician from GH Hensley.

He was a lifetime Master Mason, and a member of the Elks and the Knights of Pythias.

He will always be remembered for his rapport with animals. Over the course of his lifetime, he adopted many dogs, cats, birds and rabbits into the family and cared for many strays and injured animals as well.

A graveside service that will include a Masonic Service, will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 1 P.M. in the East Liberty Cemetery with Pastor Matthew Sandlin officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Logan County Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Lung Association, AMVETS or the American Humane Society.
