Phyllis Sarah Cockerell, 69, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at her residence. She was born May 5, 1941 in Bellefontaine, to the late Merle Roy and Frances Mae (McCoy) Johnson.
On July 27, 1989 she married Frederick Cockerell in Bellefontaine and he survives along with two sons, Larry (Krista) Chamberlain of Avon, Indiana, and Steven Chamberlain of Rushsylvania, Ohio; two daughters, Sarah Cummins of San Diego, California, and Deborah (Andrew) Hughes of Bellefontaine; two brothers, David Johnson of Ada, Ohio, and James (Carol) Johnson of Willard, Ohio; a sister, Virginia Kodger of Newnan, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Sarah Payne, Michael and Courtney Cummins, Joshua and Natasha Carr, Emily Coyer, and Clay and Logan Carr; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel and Francis Johnson.
A 1959 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, Phyllis attended the First Church of God in Bellefontaine. She worked at Heartland of Bellefontaine.
Pastor Ron Irick will conduct the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 31, 2010, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where friends may call from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will be in the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio.
