Phyllis Fitzpatrick

Phyllis Jeánne Fitzpatrick, 87, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Monday, October 8, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

She was born June 29, 1925 in Bellefontaine, to the late Dean J. and Bessie P. (Blackmore) Stafford.

On February 11, 1949, she married Ralph Edward Fitzpatrick in Bellefontaine and he preceded her in death November 19, 2007. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Dean Stafford.

Surviving are her children, Michael (Judy) Fitzpatrick, Jerry (Lynn) Fitzpatrick, both of Bellefontaine, Mary Ellen (Patrick Horgan) Fitzpatrick of Columbus, Ohio and Julia Anne (Timothy) Fitzpatrick-Cooper of St. Charles, Illinois; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A 1943 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, Phyllis worked for the Army Air Force during World War II serving in Washington, DC. After she was married, she worked at Westinghouse in Bellefontaine and then for Dr. William Doup. She was the former owner/operator of McKee’s Creek Antiques.

Phyllis was a huge Bellefontaine Chieftain fan and a longtime supporter. For twenty plus years she was a mentor for middle school and high school student athletes and was awarded the BHS Booster of the Year. She served on the Junior Guild at Mary Rutan Hospital.

Calling hours are from 2 to 5 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine Sunday, October 14, 2012. A 10:30 A.M. funeral mass is Monday, October 15, 2012 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bellefontaine, with Rev. Patrick L. Sheridan officiating. Interment will follow the mass in the Calvary Cemetery Columbarium in Bellefontaine.
