Phyllis Kay Mech, 71, formerly of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2009, at the Earl B. Hadlow Center for Caring Hospice in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born on June 21, 1938 in Logan County, to the late Ralph and Dorothy (Goodson) Stinson.
On October 10, 1969, she married Lawrence L. Mech in Reno, Nevada, and he survives along with a son, John D. Cummons of Rushsylvania, Ohio; daughters, Lynn Potter of Lakeview, Ohio, and Melody Ann Cummons of New York City, New York; stepsons, Paul James (Sharon) Mech of Columbus, Ohio, and Erich Stephen (Cindy) Mech of Van Wert, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Janet Sue (David) Geslin of Rushsylvania, Ohio; brothers, Donald (Phyllis) Stinson of Bellefontaine, and Alan (Gail) Stinson of Marysville, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren and one great grandson. A brother, Phillip Stinson, is deceased.
She worked for Mac Paper Corporation as a clerk. A member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, Florida, she was also a member of the Country Side Village and President of the 55 Plus Club that did charity work for several different organizations.
Pastor Jonathan Bull will preside over the funeral service at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, September 19, 2009, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. Calling hours are from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Friday, September 18, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Huntsville Cemetery, Huntsville, Ohio.
