Phyllis Jean Rash, 88, of Zanesfield passed away Monday evening, July 13, 2015 at Green Hills Care Center. She was born in Bellefontaine on January 1, 1927 to the late Oscar L. and Gaynelle (Young) Albert.
Phyllis married Franklin B. Reams in August of 1943 and he preceded her in death on April 11, 1958. She later married Richard Warren Rash on April 3, 1965 in Zanesfield and he preceded her in death on May 5, 2002. She was also preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law Mildred and Herbert Stratton, and a brother Richard Albert.
Phyllis is survived by her children: Dianne Kay Reams of Ocala, Florida, Franklin B. (Janet) Reams of Zanesfield, Melinda R. (Jeffrey) Young of Atlanta, Ronald L. Reams of Ruckersville, Virginia, George W. (Namil) Rash of Hawthorne, Florida and R. Franklin Rash of Melbourne, Florida; eleven grandchildren: Neil Reams, Debbie Reams McCutchen, Kevin Reams, Kris Reams, Kendra Reams Wolford, Nathan Young, Anna Young, Levi Rash, Melissa Rash, Codi Neer Hawk and Molli Neer; twenty-one great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Don Mobley of Bellefontaine; a sister-in-law Maxine Albert; and many nieces and nephews.
During World War II, Phyllis helped build parts that were used in war planes. After raising her family, she went to work with the United States Postal Service and retired as Postmaster of the Zanesfield Post Office. Phyllis was a member of Zanesfield United Methodist Church where she was an active member of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed traveling, biking and hiking.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Zanesfield United Methodist Church from 4-7pm. Pastor Gene Phelps will officiate the funeral service on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 11am at the church. Burial will follow in Zanesfield Cemetery.
