Ralph E. Hughes, 83, of Huntsville, Ohio, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012 at his residence. He was born April 19, 1929 in McArthur Township, Ohio, the son of the late Lloyd P. and Vera Ruth (Franks) Hughes. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Richard C. and Rodney H. Hughes.

He is survived by his wife, the former Donna L. Meyers Roth, whom he married March 26, 1982 at Indian Lake, Ohio. He is also survived by their eleven children, Jan (Tim) Smith of Bellefontaine, Ohio, Judy (Eldon) Lambert of St. Croix, USVI, Jeff Hughes of Marathon, Florida, Leeanne Lusby of Bellefontaine, Gene (Marty) Hughes of Weeki Wachee, Florida, David (Telisa) Hughes of Bellefontaine, Sandy Walker of Marysville, California, Mike (Beth) Roth of Appleton, Wisconsin, Deb (Brent) Jeffers of West Liberty, Ohio, Bob Roth of Bellefontaine, Nancy (special friend, Jerry Zimmerman) Roth of Xenia, Ohio, and adopted son John James, Bellefontaine; a brother, Dan (Phylis) Hughes of Kenton, Ohio; nineteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren, and his former wife, Alice J. Hughes of Bellefontaine.

Ralph was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict and a life member of the N.R.A., Elks Lodge, and American Legion Post #173. He worked as a rural letter carrier for the US Postal Service before retiring to spend time with his family and friends on Indian Lake. He enjoyed twenty three years wintering in Lake Wales, Florida spending time with numerous friends fishing and was a big Earnhardt and NASCAR fan.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 13, 2013, at the Indian Lake Community Church in Russells Point with Rev. Jim Ellington officiating. Calling hours will be at the Smith-Eichholtz Funeral Home in Lakeview Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. Interment will be at the Huntsville Cemetery In Huntsville, Ohio with military honors provided by the Logan County Veteran Honor Guard.
