Ralph E. McGowan, 86, of Jackson Center passed away Tuesday evening, May 3, 2016 at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born in Auglaize County on August 11, 1929 to the late Otto and Luella (Ambos) McGowan. Ralph was also preceded in death by brothers Eldon McGowan and Frederick McGowan and sisters Ruby Nell Woolley, Kathryn Waltz and Louise Egbert.
Ralph was a lifelong farmer and also worked in the Maintenance Department of Plastipak for 15 years. In his younger years, he enjoyed horses. Ralph also enjoyed woodworking, trains and boating. He loved spending time with his grandkids.
Ralph is survived by his wife Patricia (Burden) McGowan, whom he married on March 11, 1951 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Clay Township. He is also survived by his children: Rick L. (Sharon) McGowan of Celina, Joe M. (Brenda K.) McGowan of Jackson Center and Linda L. (Jeff Cage) McGowan Klaus of Sharpsville, Indiana; three grandchildren: Katie M. Klaus, Jesse (Cindy) Klaus and Keith Klaus; sister Mary Glett of Bellefontaine; a brother-in-law Fritz Egbert of Sidney and numerous nieces and nephews.
Burial took place in Walnut Hill Cemetery with a private family graveside service.
Funeral arrangements were under the care of Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Jackson Center
