Ralph Richard Regula

Ralph Richard “Dutch” Regula, 86, of Jackson Center, passed away at 8:52 a.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney. He was born in Jackson Center, Ohio on October 23, 1930 to the late Harry A. and Gladys M. (Oakley) Regula.

On March 21, 1953 Ralph married the former Janice L. Lunz, and she preceded him in death on June 16, 2011.

Ralph is survived by his three children, Debbie (Rick) Russell of Botkins, Brenda McDaniel of Powell, and Bert (Marlene) Regula of Jackson Center; seven grandchildren, Gary Russell, Alan (Tami) Russell, Brent Russell, Morgan (Drew) Heller, Lindsay McDaniel, Emma Regula, and Seth Regula; three great grandchildren, Dean Russell, Juliet Russell, and Rory Heller; a sister, Twyla “Tootie” (William) Ridder of Englewood; two brothers, Raymond “Dick” (Jo) Regula of Jackson Center, and Marvin “Zeke” (Judy) Regula of Wapakoneta; three sisters-in-law, Connie Regula of Bellefontaine, Waneta Helmlinger and Lura Mae (Weston) Olds, both of Wapakoneta; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Ralph was also preceded in death by his brother, Melvin Regula, and a brother-in-law, Wilbur Helmlinger.

A retired farmer and U.S. Army veteran, Ralph was a graduate of Jackson Center High School. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where he had served as a Sunday school teacher and held various positions on the church council. Ralph also served as Jackson Township Clerk for 16 years, was a member of the Jackson Center Local School Board of Education, and played with the musical group of “Harps & Strings” that entertained in various nursing homes. He enjoyed working on the farm, spending time with his grandchildren and family, and especially enjoyed playing his fiddle at the Classic Country Music Hall in Uniopolis as well as playing cards every day at Boogher Elevator in Santa Fe.

Pastor Patti Morlock will officiate a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Grace Lutheran Church, 607 S. Main Street, Jackson Center. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday, March 28th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Gutman, Ohio.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Jackson Center.
