Richard Elwin Clark, Sr., 79, of Bellefontaine went home to be with the Lord at 5:15 a.m. on Friday, March 8, 2013 at his home. He was born in West Mansfield, Ohio on December 21, 1933 to the late Benjamin Clifford and Clara (Lynch) Clark. On September 20, 1957 he married the former Voncella Rogan and she survives.
He is also survived by his three children Twyla Clark, Elwin Clark and Eddie Clark, all of Bellefontaine; a granddaughter, Téa Breanna Clark; a sister, Betty Lou Rogan of Bellefontaine; four brothers, Warren (Theresa) Clark of Bellefontaine, Lester (Gloria Dean) Clark of Kenton, Neal (Quo Vadis) Clark and Roscelle Clark, both of Bellefontaine; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Randy Clark; three sisters, Vyrtle Boyd, Barbara Ann George and Mary Cane; and a brother Lewis Wayne Clark.
Richard retired from International Trucks in Springfield after 39 years, where he had worked as an assembler and more recently an inspector. He was baptized in the Auburn Avenue Baptist Church in Bellefontaine and was currently a member of the Second Baptist Church in Lima where he had served as a trustee for the past 20 years. Richard had also coached Little League baseball in Bellefontaine for 18 years.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. Pastor Dennis Ward will officiate a funeral service Wednesday, March 13th at 7:00 p.m. at the Second Baptist Church, 520 W. Spring Street, Lima with one hour of visitation prior to the funeral at the Second Baptist Church. Burial will be Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in Highland Memorial Cemetery in West Liberty with military rites by the Logan County Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Second Baptist Church Building Fund.
