Richard Lee Eaton, Sr., 77, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009, at the Logan Acres Care Center in Bellefontaine. He was born to the late Clifford and Ruth (Beard) Eaton May 22, 1932 in West Liberty, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, a brother, a stepdaughter, and a previous wife, Esther Sterns. They share a daughter, Christine (Jim) Houchin, and a son, Anthony Dwayne (JoAnn) Eaton, both who survive and live in Bellefontaine.
On July 22, 1960, he married Thelma Hunt in Bellefontaine, and she survives along with their two sons, Richard L. (Barbara Butcher) Eaton Jr. of Bellefontaine, and Michael (Sonya) Eaton of Lakeview, Ohio. Also surviving are six grandchildren and two sisters, Dorothy Jones of Irving, Texas, and Phyllis McDonnell of Bellefontaine.
Richard was a mechanic for MacGillivray Motors, Millisor Chevrolet, and Bellefontaine Motors. He retired in 1999 from Ron’s Cars in Anna, Ohio.
He was a United States Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Kenton, Ohio. He found pleasure in boating, working on cars, riding his scooter and watching old John Wayne movies.
A graveside service will be Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at 11:00 A.M., in the Greenlawn Cemetery in West Mansfield, Ohio.
