Richard R. Helmlinger

Richard R. Helmlinger, age 86, of Jackson Center, Ohio passed away at 1:30 A.M. Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Lima Memorial Health System in Lima, Ohio. He was born in Jackson Center June 13, 1932, to the late Michael and Selma Irene (Weaver) Helmlinger. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by three sisters, Esther English, Velma Burean, and Willa Holt and a brother, Russell Helmlinger.

On May 28, 1955, Richard married Alma Mae Alexander in Jackson Center and she survives along with their two daughters, Debra (Gary) Hereld and Pamela Mitchell; three grandchildren, Anthony (Allison) Hereld, Rachel Wells, and Dustin (Patricia) Mitchell; eight grandchildren, Sienna Borger, Drew Hereld, Mason Hereld, Chance Hereld, Vivian Hereld, Deja Wells, Rayden Wells, and Luke Yerkey; a sister-in-law, Catherine Helmlinger and numerous nieces and nephews.

A United States Army Korean War Veteran, Richard had worked as a surveyor and was a member of the St. Jacobs Lutheran Church in Jackson Center. He was also a member of the American Legion Scherer Post #493 and the Indian Lake Moose Lodge #1533.

Pastor David Sanders will officiate a memorial service at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the St. Jacobs Lutheran Church in Jackson Center, where the family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.

Burial will follow the memorial service at the St. Jacobs Lutheran Church Cemetery.

The arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Jackson Center.
