Richard E. Kerr

Richard E. “Dick” Kerr, age 89, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away at 12:22 P.M. Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima, Ohio. He was born in Union Township in Logan County Ohio to the late Harley Wilson and Clara Christina (Kuntzman) Kerr.

On May 12, 1950, Richard married Shirley Joanne Sprague at the Stony Creek Church and she preceded him in death May 2, 1971. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Diane Kerr; two sisters, Frances Linthicum, Martha Robison and two brothers, James L. Kerr and John Kerr.

Richard is survived by his children, Marvin Kerr of DeGraff, Ohio, Cheryl (Carl Jamison) Rayles of Quincy, Ohio, Connie (Rick) Shultz of Bellefontaine, Keith Kerr of Columbus, Ohio, Christy Peterson of Schwenksville, Pennsylvania, and Carol (Mark) Pait of Smithfield, Kentucky; fifteen grandchildren; and many step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Richard married Carol Ruth Frost July 22, 1989, and she survives with two step-children, Debra (Tim) Wilson of East Liberty, Ohio and Daniel Yoder of Urbana, Ohio.

After graduating from DeGraff High School in 1947, Dick worked for Tanger Farms, then Roby’s Garage in DeGraff, and later with Lafe Grube as an electrician. In 1964, Dick purchased Mr. Grube’s business and renamed it Kerr Electric & Appliance in DeGraff. He retired in April 2004.

A lifetime member of the Stony Creek Church, Dick was a member of The Gideons International. He was well known in the tri-county area as someone who could repair anything. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved watching his grandchildren’s activities. He always put God first and it was not uncommon for him to share his faith with friends and customers.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in DeGraff.

Pastor Wayne Downing will officiate the funeral service at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the funeral home.

Burial will follow the funeral service at the Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff.

The funeral arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in DeGraff.
