Richard C. Lyman, 87, of Bellefontaine, passed away Tuesday morning, June 26, 2018, at his home. He was born in Bellefontaine on September 23, 1930 to the late Clair Lyman and Marie (Joslin) Lyman Hott.
Richard married the former Sarah L. “Sally” Fultz on September 19, 1954, in Bellefontaine and she preceded him in death on July 4, 2012. He was also preceded in death by a grandson Douglas Allen Henderson.
A veteran of the US Air Force, Richard was stationed in Okinawa, Japan for several years as a radar technician during the Korean War.
With several partners, he purchased the Howard Supply in 1968, it became A & I Supply, and he worked there until he retired in 1996. Richard supported Habitat for Humanity and participated in 13 house projects over the years. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and was a blood donor for many years. Richard enjoyed woodworking and built his daughters and grandchildren all a doll house or fire house.
Richard is survived by his daughters, Debra (Scott) Henderson of Loudonville, and Barbara (Will) Miller of Bellefontaine; six grandchildren: Melissa (Corey) Fry, David (Stephanie) Henderson, Ashley (Bryan Dillon) Nicole, Jeanette (Ethan) McLaughlin, Nathan Miller, and Sarah (Alex) Pieper; seven great-grandchildren: Julya Dillon, Taylor Dillon, Riley Dillon, Mayson Dillon, Matthew McLaughlin, Hunter McLaughlin, and Annabelle Pieper; and a sister Sharon K. (Frank) Focht of St. Paris.
Friends may call at the First Lutheran Church, 208 W. Sandusky St. Bellefontaine, on Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 6-8pm. Pastor Scott Henderson will officiate the funeral service on Friday, June 29, at 11am at church. Burial will be in Philadelphia Cemetery with military honors provided by the Logan County Veteran's Honor Guard.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.
