Richard Riel

Richard Riel, 85, of West Liberty passed away peacefully Friday, February 19, 2016 in Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.

He was born in Youngstown, Ohio on June 8, 1930, the son of the late Paul F. and Bertha (Schmid) Riel.

On December 11, 1953, he married the former Betty Mae Grazier in Youngstown and she preceded him in death on June 2, 2007.

He is survived by his four children: Rick D. Riel, Mark T. Riel, Christy L. Slaubaugh and Paul E. Riel; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He had worked as a sales representative and was a long-time member of Grace Chapel in West Liberty.

Pastors Jeff Mixon and Russ Hamilton will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 in Grace Chapel, 500 Linden St., West Liberty. Visitation will be on Monday, February 22, 2016 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the church and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty with military honors provided by the Logan County Veteran Honor Guard.

Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, West Liberty assisted the family with arrangements.
