Richard B. “Dick” Ritter, age 77, of Wellington, Florida and formerly of Worthington, Ohio, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 2:00 A.M. Saturday, August 26, 2017 in West Palm Beach, Florida following a lengthy illness of Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinsonism. He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio April 5, 1940, to the late Gilbert B. and Elizabeth “Teetsie” Ritter.
On January 22, 1977, Dick married the former Susan Clapper at the Grace Brethren Church of Worthington by Pastor James L. Custer. She survives him, along with a daughter, Tracy (Drew) Rehfuss of Carrollton, Texas, and a step-daughter, Jennifer (Brad) Neiheisel of Wellington, Florida; grandchildren, Amber, Chad, Jacob, and Luke Rehfuss; brothers, Jerome (Joanne) Ritter of Bellefontaine, and Jack (Carol) Ritter of Lancaster, Ohio and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Virginia “Jini” and James Dee.
Dick was a graduate of Bellefontaine High School and Miami University, where he received his Bachelor of Architecture. Through the following years he worked at Brubaker/Brandt, Inc., Phillip Markwood Architects, and had the privilege of being on his own for close to a decade as Richard B. Ritter Architect in Worthington. Dick loved the Lord, his wife, family, friends, architecture, golf, sailing, reading, playing bridge, and leading Bible studies.
Pastor James L. Custer will officiate the funeral service at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 8, 2017, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine, where visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Burial will follow the service at the Bellefontaine Cemetery in Bellefontaine.
The funeral arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.
