Richard H. Schlumbohm, age 92, of DeGraff, Ohio, passed away peacefully and went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 3:15 A.M. Monday, October 13, 2014 at his home.

He was born in Logan County Ohio November 25, 1921, to the late Richard H. and Estella (Overly) Schlumbohm. Three sisters and a brother also preceded him in death.

On January 18, 1944, he married his wife of seventy years Wanda Titus, and she survives. Their marriage blessed them with three children, Diane Rice of Indianapolis, Indiana, Steve (Christie) Schlumbohm of DeGraff and Marylu Clute of West Liberty, Ohio; four grandchildren, Chris (Brooke) Schlumbohm of Quincy, Ohio, Micah Schlumbohm of DeGraff, A.J. Barron of West Liberty and Colin Clute of Columbus, Ohio; five great grandchildren, Kameron, Kirstin, Kaitlyn, Annabelle and Layton Schlumbohm; a sister, Dolores Oaklief of Grayling, Michigan, and many nieces and nephews.

A lifelong Logan County resident and farmer, Richard and Wanda were charter members of the Logan County Agrarian Club that was established in 1945. In 1950, he and Wanda moved to the farm east of DeGraff, later purchased it, which still operates as the family farm today. Together, with hard work and dedication, Richard and Wanda have received many accolades. Richard received the State of Ohio Dairy Efficiency Award in 1954. In 1957, he was recognized as the Outstanding Young Farmer by the Logan County Junior Chamber of Commerce. He also received numerous top producing dairy herd awards from the Logan County Dairy Association. In 1997, Richard and Wanda were acclaimed as the Logan County Farm Family of the Year. They were also members of the Farm Bureau Council #23. Richard served eighteen years as director, and two years as president of the Logan County Rural Electric Cooperative Board and six years as the director of the Logan County Soil & Water Board. He was a member of the DeGraff United Methodist Church and enjoyed restoring antique tractors.

Pastor Kym James will officiate the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 16, 2014, at the DeGraff United Methodist Church. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, October 15, 2014 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in DeGraff, and at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

The funeral arrangements were in the care of the staff of the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in DeGraff.
