Richard E. Weeks, 85, of Bellefontaine passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017 in Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.

He was born in Sidney, Ohio on December 25, 1931, the son of the late William A. and Mildred (Vordemark) Weeks. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Sue Gunderson and a sister, Patricia Barbee.

On February 17, 1951, he married Joyce (Wilson) Weeks and she survives along with their daughter, Linda K. (Steven) Popp of West Liberty and a son, Christopher Scott Weeks of Bellefontaine, three grandchildren; Jason D. (Gretchen) Lapp, Andrea K. (Chad) Claybaugh, and Meghan D. (Scott) Miller, all of West Liberty, and eight great grandchildren.

Richard worked as a construction superintendent for Knowlton Construction for many years. He later worked for the State of Ohio Architects Office in Columbus, Ohio. He was a longtime member of the Bellefontaine First United Methodist Church. He was a Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army, serving his country during the Korean War. He was a former member of the Bellefontaine Fraternal Order of Elks and the Indian Lake Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, but especially loved traveling with his fun-loving wife, Joyce. His favorite travels were those when he was accompanied by his family and his destinations included all parts of the world, including China.

Pastor H. Kearns will officiate services at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2017 in the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Bellefontaine funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff with military rites provided by the Logan County Veteran Honor Guard.

Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine assisted the family with arrangements.
