Richard L. “Dick” Wilson, 86, of Rushsylvania, Ohio, passed away at 5:27 A.M. Thursday, November 26, 2009, at the Logan Acres Care Center in Bellefontaine, Ohio. He was born in Logan County Ohio, on January 26, 1923, a son of the late Adrian and Dorothy Fultz Wilson. He also was preceded in death by a son, Lee Wilson; infant son, Lari Alan; and a sister, Jeanne Putnam.
On January 26, 1946, he married the former Molly “Polly” Hylton and she survives along with a son, David Lynn Wilson of Rushsylvania; grandchildren, Jill (Lance) Lilly of Hilliard, Ohio, and Camberly Wilson of Sterling Heights, Michigan; sister, Pat (Dick) Stanford of Arizona and Ohio; daughter-in-law, Patricia Wilson of Rushsylvania; brother-in-law, John Putnam of Rushsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.
He retired from Siemens in 1985 and previously worked at Camp Wesley and at Benjamin Local Schools after his retirement.
A United States Army Air Force veteran of World War II, he was a member of the 490th Bomb Squadron and the Top of Ohio Pilots Association. He also was a member of the Belle Center American Legion Post and was a 24-gallon blood donor. Richard was a 61-year member of Rushsylvania Methodist Church, where he served in many offices.
He was a loyal sports fan of The Ohio State University and Cincinnati Reds. He was affiliated with the Bowling Association for many years and once recorded a 300 game of which he was very proud. His greatest joy and pride was his home, family and friends. He will be remembered for his willingness to help and serve whenever he was needed.
Calling hours are from 2 to 5 P.M. Sunday, November 29, 2009, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Rushsylvania. A private graveside service with military rites by the Logan County Honor Guard will be Monday November 30, 2009, in the Rushsylvania Cemetery.
