Rickey “Rick” Dean Newland, 60, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013 in the emergency room at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine.
He was born December 29, 1952 in Bellefontaine, a son of the late Richard T. Newland who passed away on August 21, 2009, and Catherine Maxine (Morgan) Newland, who survives in Bellefontaine.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Pamela Ann Newland Horne January 26, 2010.
Other survivors include a sister, Lori Lee Newland Geho; nephews, R. J. (Glenna Wickersham) Horne, Scott (Missy) Horne, Brandon Horne, Dustin (Kyle Kronley) Geho; six great nieces and nephews; three great-great-nephews, and a brother-in-law, Ron Horne.
He is also survived by two “special daughters”, April and Ashley Gill; a “special son”, Chase Busher; and a “special grandson”, Phoenix and too many aunts, uncles and cousins to mention individually.
A 1971 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, he enjoyed photography, especially taking pictures of many of the local youth sports. His family was very important to him.
Rick was currently employed at HBD/Thermoid Inc. in Bellefontaine and had worked there for many years as well as delivering newspapers for the Bellefontaine Examiner, the Columbus Dispatch and the Dayton Daily News.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine assisted the family with the arrangements.
