Rita Scurlock

Rita J. Scurlock, 52, of Sidney, Ohio, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013 at her home. She was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio January 3, 1961, to the late Fred and Mary Jane (Harper) Hughes.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary (Shawn Martin) Scurlock of Lima, Ohio and Patricia (Marcus) St. Clair of Bellefontaine; seven grandchildren, Keyara, Robert, Roderick, D’Ante, Ellise, Tavien and Reign; four sisters, Annette of Las Vegas, Nevada, Mary of Bellefontaine, Patricia of Lima and Cheryl of Findlay, Ohio; two brothers, Charles of Bellefontaine and Christopher (Mollie) of Bellefontaine; a step-sister, Shelly of Delaware, Ohio; a step-brother, Fred, Jr. of Delaware, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Leslie Mitchell and a brother Anthony.

She had worked as a nurse’s aide at Logan Acres and was a member of the Sidney Baptist Church. Rita walked at Relay For Life events as a cancer survivor. She enjoyed cooking, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Pastor Dave Moran will officiate the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Interment will be at the Bellefontaine Cemetery in Bellefontaine.

Memorial contributions may be made in Rita’s memory in care of the family.

The funeral arrangements were handled by the staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine.
